Unveiled in preview at Paris Design Week 2015 and unearthed by the talent editor, Du Côté de Chez Vous, Drôles d'Oiseaux is a project imagined by the design studio Fritsch-Durisotti. Combining creativity and "Positive Design", this new concept is part of the "do it yourself" movement. Presentation.
A simple and innovative construction principle
Have you always dreamed of making your furniture from A to Z? With Drôles D'Oiseaux, it's (finally) possible! Based on a construction principle as simple as it is innovative, the Drôles d'Oiseaux concept combines the sophistication of 3D printing with the simplicity of the standard components sold by Leroy Merlin. Result? Amazing furniture, imagined by the designers of the Fritsch-Durisotti studio: the "Duck" chair, the "Coquenpâte" armchair, the "Flemish pink" secretary, the "Alouette" wardrobe, the "Rossignol" seat, and the small 'extra "Chick".
Infinite customizable models
Pushing the trend of "do it yourself" a little further with the notion of "Do it & express yourself", Drôles d'Oiseaux lets your imagination run wild. If the structure of each piece of furniture is modeled definitively, its use remains open. Similarly, the look of these Funny Birds is customizable at will thanks to a wide choice of materials and colors.
How to give life to these Funny Birds?
First step: download the 3D files of all the models, as well as the associated assembly instructions, on the site. Second step: 3D print the "knots" of connection that carry the structure of each piece of furniture. To do this, go to the nearest "FabLab" or the TechShop - collaborative manufacturing workshop providing more than 150 machines (wood, metal, textile workshops, 3D printers, etc.) - which will open at the end of October in near the Leroy Merlin store in Ivry. Third step: buy the standard components - colored straps, beech pins and rope for example - in Leroy Merlin stores. Now, it's your turn to play !
